I may be biased, but I believe that Alberta is the best place to live, if for no other reason than its unbelievably convenient proximity to the Rocky Mountains! However, as a dog owner myself, I find it very stressful to try and coordinate my weekend getaway while also trying to coordinate reliable pet care back at home. The fact is I don’t care much for a mountain getaway without my four-legged furry friend anyway. I mean, what’s a hike without my trusty trail companion, Rufus?!

So let me break it down for all those dog owners out there, you can and should bring your dog on your next mountain getaway. Let me give you a brief overview of some of the best and most affordable pet-friendly accommodations in the Canmore and Banff area so that both you and your pet can enjoy everything the beautiful Rockies has to offer!

The biggest advantage to a pet-friendly hotel is the modified facilities created to make things easier for you and your pet’s needs. Take note that all pet-friendly hotels will have some restrictions, most common are the following:

  • Dogs only
  • Maximum number of pets per room, usually 1 or 2
  • Size restrictions, for example, dogs under 50 lbs
  • Pets cannot be left unattended in guest rooms
