Dog Urinalysis and Fecal Exam

A urinalysis can reveal not only a urinary tract infection but also the function of internal organs. We can also discover urinary crystals, which could be indicative of stones. Fecal exams can reveal parasites, in adult form or even in the beginning egg stages. Intestinal parasites can lead to gastrointestinal upset and even result in impaction.

If my dog’s urine test reveals a urinary tract infection, what can I do?

If the urine tests come back with something abnormal going on, the doctor will usually prescribe some medications and/or food to help treat the issue. Many times, a follow-up urinalysis will be required to make sure the issue has resolved.
